Eligible applicants include freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled at accredited colleges or universities in the United States. Students may pursue pre-medicine, biology, chemistry, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, health sciences, or another academic discipline that includes the coursework required for a medical career.
Central to the selection process is an original essay of 500–800 words. Applicants are asked to describe a specific academic, personal, or community-based challenge that required resilience, discipline, or a service-first mindset and explain how that experience shapes the kind of physician they intend to become.
