Henny & Lumpia releases the Alexandra Eala shirt to celebrate Filipino tennis history
Henny & Lumpia, a Bay Area streetwear brand, pays tribute to Alex Eala’s rise with a new unisex tee.

Henny & Lumpia, the Filipino American streetwear label behind Filthy Dripped, announced today the release of the Alexandra Eala shirt, a tribute tee celebrating the Philippines’ history-making tennis player. The shirt is designed, printed, and shipped from the Bay Area by a Filipino-owned team, and it joins the Henny & Lumpia collection as the brand’s first release tied to a working athlete.

Alex Eala gave Filipino fans a reason to watch tennis

Eala turned pro in 2020 and became the first Filipino to win a major junior title at the 2022 US Open. She went on to become the first Filipino woman to win a WTA Tour singles title and the first Filipino to break into the WTA top 30, drawing crowds of Filipino fans at tournaments across Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Her rise gave Henny & Lumpia’s founders, Paul Andre and Lloyd de Vera, the same feeling that pushed them to start Filthy Dripped years earlier: pride that had nowhere to go until someone built a shirt for it.

  • First Filipino to win a major junior tennis title (2022 US Open)
  • First Filipino woman to win a WTA Tour singles title
  • First Filipino player to reach the WTA top 30
  • Signed to Nike, with a growing fan base that follows her worldwide

The Eala shirt carries the same values as the rest of the collection

The shirt is not a licensed Nike or Alex Eala product. It is an original design built by independent artists who grew up in the same Filipino American communities the brand has served since its Filthy Dripped days.

  • Unisex fit, true to size
  • Made in the Bay Area by Filipinos
  • Heavier cotton blend built to hold up through repeated washes
  • Limited print run, consistent with past Henny & Lumpia drops
  • Shirt price stays in line with the rest of the streetwear collection, not marked up as licensed sports merch

Early customer feedback points to fit and print quality

Reviews on past Henny & Lumpia tribute tees have called out the fabric weight and the durability of the print through multiple wash cycles. The brand expects similar demand for this release given how quickly past collection pieces have sold out.

  • Shop the shirt directly through the Henny & Lumpia product page
  • Sign up for restock alerts, since past drops have sold out within days
  • Available in men’s and women’s sizing under one unisex chart
  • Ideal timing for a summer purchase heading into peak tennis season

Company statement

“Alex Eala did what Manny Pacquiao did for boxing. She gave an entire generation of Filipino Americans someone new to be loud about,” said Paul Andre de Vera, co-founder of Henny & Lumpia. “This shirt is not merch. It is us putting that pride into something you can wear every day, made by the same hands that built Filthy Dripped and Quickly Benicia.”
