ZenaTech (Nasdaq: ZENA) Bought Its Way Around That

The U.S. Department of War requested $13.4 billion for autonomous weapons and systems in fiscal 2026, with counter-UAS technology named a top priority. Commercial demand is moving in the same direction, as drone-based surveying, inspection, and inventory work displaces manual processes in industries that have operated the same way for decades. The difficulty for investors is that most companies chasing that money are pre-revenue, selling prototypes and press releases while actual contracts stay perpetually a year out.

ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) (FSE: 49Q) (BMV: ZENA) took a different route. It bought its revenue first.

For the first quarter of 2026, ZenaTech reported total revenue of CAD 8.4 million, up 640% from CAD 1.13 million in the same quarter of 2025. On June 30, the company disclosed a 2026 annualized revenue run rate of approximately CAD 33 million, derived by annualizing the quarter. Management noted the figure is illustrative rather than formal guidance. ZenaTech closed the quarter with roughly CAD 15 million in cash and marketable securities and total assets of CAD 109.5 million, up nearly 10% from year end.

That revenue did not come from selling drones. It came from buying companies that already had customers.

The Acquisition Engine

ZenaTech’s Drone as a Service division acquires established, profitable service businesses, land surveyors, inspection firms, power washing operators, that have run on manual, low-tech processes for decades. Each arrives with existing revenue, licensed operators, and long-standing customer relationships. ZenaTech then integrates its ZenaDrone platforms and AI analytics into those workflows, compressing job times, lowering costs, and opening data-driven service lines on top of work the acquired firm was already winning. The acquisition delivers immediate revenue. The drone integration expands the margin on it.

The company has completed 23 acquisitions across 10 U.S. states, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Combined with corporate stores in Orlando, Dublin, and Dubai, that brings the network to 26 DaaS locations globally, against a stated goal of 25 companies by mid-2026. The most recent, High Prairie Survey Company, is a 40-year-old firm serving the fast-growing development corridor southeast of Denver. DaaS contributed CAD 7.8 million in the quarter, roughly 93% of total revenue.

The timing detail matters. Several of those businesses closed partway through 2025 and the first half of 2026, contributing only partial-year revenue so far. They are expected to deliver a full twelve months for the first time during the balance of fiscal 2026. The run rate reflects a portfolio that has not fully switched on yet.

In May, ZenaTech extended the model with a Partnership Acquisition Program targeting founder-led, profitable companies across defense technology, enterprise SaaS, AI infrastructure, and specialty manufacturing. The company has entered non-binding letters of intent and term sheets with select parties.

Defense as the Second Engine

The same platform feeds a defense business. ZenaDrone, the company’s subsidiary, has completed paid trials with the U.S. Air Force and Navy Reserve for the ZenaDrone 1000, a VTOL cargo drone capable of lifting roughly 40 kg, and has submitted the platform for green and blue UAS pathway certification, its third drone in that process.

Its counter-UAS portfolio targets the cost asymmetry that defines modern drone warfare. The Interceptor P-1, a one-way expendable interceptor targeted to sell for under $5,000, and the ZenaDrone 2000 Maritime Interceptor are being paired with an AI coordination layer built at the company’s Zena AI center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, designed to let a single operator direct a fleet against an incoming swarm. ZenaTech has also registered Phoenix Aero in Lviv, Ukraine, as a manufacturing and testing base for those systems.

Software as the Third

The Enterprise SaaS division spans 12 brands and contributed CAD 589,857 in the quarter, anchored by the recent acquisition of NOW Solutions, a Texas HR and payroll company with decades-long relationships across schools, hospitals, and municipalities. In June, ZenaTech unveiled Zoo Office, an agentic AI productivity platform intended to unify those brands into a single ecosystem, with a private beta opening to selected small and mid-sized businesses.

What Comes Next

Acquired businesses roll into full-year revenue contribution through the back half of 2026. IQ Sphere prototype testing, the company’s newest autonomous platform, begins in the coming weeks. And management is carrying the story to six investor and defense conferences over the next three months, from the H.C. Wainwright Global Investment Conference in New York to MSPO in Poland.

Three engines, one platform, and a revenue base that is already running.

Disclaimers: RazorPitch Inc. “RazorPitch” is not operated by a licensed broker, a dealer, or a registered investment adviser.
