Kartoon Studios (NYSE: TOON) Enters Next Growth Phase; Reports Q2 Revenue of $5.82M, EPS of $0.38 and $40.5M Cash Position - Plus More in Focus

Aug. 14, 2026 — Kartoon Studios, Inc. (NYSE: TOON), a global children’s and family entertainment company, reported second-quarter 2026 financial results while outlining a strategic transformation centered on the ownership, development and commercialization of high-value intellectual property.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Kartoon Studios reported revenue of approximately $5.8 million and net income of $27.0 million, with reported earnings of approximately $0.38 per share. Net income primarily reflected a $39.2 million non-recurring litigation settlement gain, partially offset by operating losses and other non-operating expenses.

Following receipt of the initial litigation settlement proceeds, Kartoon Studios ended Q2 with approximately $40.5 million in cash and marketable securities and no long-term debt. The company said an additional approximately $39.2 million remains in escrow, subject to legal fees and related distributions, potentially providing further financial flexibility.

Kartoon Studios, Inc. (NYSE: TOON) was recently featured alongside SurgePays, Inc. (NASDAQ: SURG), IGC Pharma, Inc. (NYSE: IGC), MDxHealth SA (NASDAQ: MDXH), Valion Bio Inc. (NASDAQ: VBIO), Peraso Inc. (NASDAQ: PRSO), Cycurion, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYCU), and Mangoceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: MGRX) as companies attracting increased investor attention.

Amazon Prime Video Adds Major Franchise Catalyst

The financial update follows Kartoon Studios’ agreement with Amazon Prime Video (NASDAQ: AMZN) to launch HUNDRED ACRE WOOD, based on A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh, on February 18, 2027. Amazon plans to support the series with Hero Banner promotion, while its Shop the Show program will allow viewers to purchase character merchandise while streaming—connecting content, licensing and e-commerce within the franchise.

Management views Hundred Acre Wood as a cornerstone of its next-generation franchise strategy, alongside the Stan Lee Universe and developing property Stan Lee Superhero Pets.

Kartoon Studios Shifts Toward Owned IP and Higher-Margin Revenue

Kartoon Studios is repositioning its business away from greater reliance on third-party production services toward owned and controlled intellectual property, where the company can participate across streaming, licensing, consumer products, publishing, digital commerce, gaming and other brand extensions.

As part of that transformation, Kartoon Studios completed the sale of the Frederator Channel Network business in July while retaining important Frederator Studios intellectual property. The company also appointed Brooke Bacon, formerly a consumer-products licensing executive at Activision Blizzard, as Senior Vice President of Consumer Products and Licensing to accelerate franchise monetization.

The company’s cost structure is also being streamlined. Total Q2 expenses declined 32% to $9.2 million, including a 35% reduction in direct operating costs and a 28% decline in general and administrative expenses. Loss from operations was $3.4 million compared with $3.2 million a year earlier, despite a 43% year-over-year revenue decline primarily related to lower production-services revenue and project timing.

Management emphasized that Q2 largely reflects Kartoon Studios’ historical operating model, rather than the potential economics of its emerging owned-IP strategy.

With $40.5 million in cash and marketable securities, no long-term debt, the Amazon Prime Video agreement, additional settlement proceeds remaining in escrow, and flagship franchises approaching commercialization, Kartoon Studios enters the second half of 2026 with a substantially different financial and strategic profile.
