ISO 9001:2026 templates launched by Plain Standards, written in plain English for small businesses
ISO 9001:2026 templates written in plain English are now available from Plain Standards, giving small and medium sized businesses a ready-made route to the newly published edition of the world’s most widely used quality standard without hiring a consultant.
The International Organization for Standardization published the 2026 edition of ISO 9001 on 16 September 2026, the first update to the quality management standard since 2015. Every business currently certified to the 2015 version will need to move across to the new edition during the transition period. Plain Standards has rewritten its entire documentation set against the published 2026 text so that businesses starting out, or moving across, begin on the current version rather than one that is being phased out.
Because the documents have only just been revised to the new edition, they are brand new to the market, among the first ready-made ISO 9001:2026 templates available to smaller businesses anywhere in the world.
What sets Plain Standards apart is who built it. Founder Mike Armstrong ran companies at director level for decades, and personally authored and managed quality, environmental and security management systems in demanding real-world settings, before training as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and building documentation for others. Most competing template providers are auditors first who have never run a business.
The Plain Standards range covers individual ISO 9001 documents, a complete certification-ready system, and an honest, remote certification service. The certification is unaccredited, a fact the company states plainly on every page, and is offered as an affordable alternative to the traditional consultant-and-accredited-body route, which can cost a small business many thousands of pounds.
Plain Standards has published a plain-English guide to the 2026 changes, explaining what is new, what has stayed the same, and what it means for a small business, available at https://plainstandards.com/pages/iso-9001-2026
