S. Feldman Housewares Highlights PFAS-Free GreenPan Ceramic Nonstick Cookware for NYC Home Cooks

NEW YORK, NY – August 14, 2026 – S. Feldman Housewares is highlighting the GreenPan ceramic nonstick pans in its cookware department for New York City customers who want to know what their pans are coated with before they buy. The current selection covers three GreenPan lines, Chatham, Valencia Pro, and Spectra, which differ in how the pans are built and which cooktops they suit.

GreenPan states that its Thermolon ceramic nonstick coating is made without PFAS, including PTFE and PFOA, and without lead or cadmium. GreenPan also describes the coating as coming from a sand-based silicon dioxide material rather than the fluoropolymers used in traditional nonstick pans. S. Feldman Housewares shares this as the manufacturer’s stated specification and does not present it as the result of independent laboratory testing. The statement applies to the ceramic nonstick pans described here. It does not extend to every GreenPan item the store carries. Shoppers can browse the store’s greenpan cookware range online or stop by the Madison Avenue store to see the pans in person.

Ceramic nonstick is designed to release eggs, fish, pancakes, and other delicate foods with little added fat, and it typically wipes clean with minimal scrubbing. GreenPan advises cooking on low to medium heat, and notes that release performance changes gradually with use. Heat level, utensil choice, and washing habits all affect how long a pan keeps working well. GreenPan’s care guidance recommends handwashing and silicone or wooden utensils, even on pans listed as dishwasher- and metal utensil-safe.

The Chatham pans use a hard anodized aluminum body and are stocked in 8-inch and 12-inch frypans. Valencia Pro is also hard anodized and is built on what GreenPan calls a Magneto base. The 8-inch Valencia Pro frypan is suitable for all stovetops, including induction, oven-safe to 600°F, dishwasher-safe, and metal utensil safe. Its product listing also notes an America’s Test Kitchen Best Ceramic Nonstick award and a Good Housekeeping Sustainable Innovation Award. Spectra pairs a tri-ply stainless steel body with the ceramic nonstick interior, and is available as an 8-inch skillet and as a 10-inch and 12-inch pair. A 5-inch mini egg pan covers smaller jobs, with a stainless handle in a stay-cool silicone sleeve and an oven rating listed at 200°C.

Cooktop compatibility is worth checking first, because it is not the same across the lines. Of the pans stocked, Valencia Pro and Spectra are the two listed as induction compatible. The range also includes a 9.5 inch crepe pan and an 11 inch griddle for flatter cooking such as pancakes, quesadillas, and browning, shapes that are easy to overlook when replacing a single worn skillet.

S. Feldman Housewares has been at 1304 Madison Avenue at 92nd Street since 1929, and is now in its fourth generation of family ownership. Customers interested in comparing ceramic nonstick options can browse the GreenPan range online or visit the Madison Avenue store.

About S. Feldman Housewares

S. Feldman Housewares has served Manhattan’s Carnegie Hill and the Upper East Side since 1929 and is now run by the family’s fourth generation. Only a select portion of its 10,000-plus items is listed online, so the Madison Avenue store holds far more than the website shows. Alongside cookware, hardware, and gifts, the store sharpens knives, repairs lamps and Miele vacuums, copies keys, and exchanges SodaStream carbonators on-site. It is open seven days a week, with free delivery anywhere in New York City and same-day delivery on the Upper East Side.
