More Than 30,000 Medical, Nursing, and Undergraduate Students Now Study With This Remote
More than 30,000 medical, nursing, undergraduate, dental, physician assistant, and other students are now using the StudyRemote’s Anki Remote, a Bluetooth clicker that lets students advance electronic flashcards without touching a keyboard or screen.
The milestone reflects a larger shift in education technology where a large subset of students are moving more towards physical tools than AI. This group of students rely on Anki, an electronic flashcard software, for memorizing large amounts of information. Research shows that 94% of medical students identified as Anki users. However, these students have looked to further optimize their studying of their flashcards.
In a recent StudyRemote effectiveness study of 209 Anki Remote users across 146 institutions, two-thirds of them medical students, participants reviewed 94% more flashcards per day after adopting the remote, jumping from 245 to 475 cards, while cutting their time per card nearly in half (from 27.8 to 14.9 seconds). Institutional demand is following the students. Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and Florida State University College of Medicine have purchased the Anki Remote for entire incoming classes for multiple years.

The product arrives at a moment when much of education technology is racing toward AI, while a large share of medical students are doubling down on spaced repetition, a learning method with more than 50 years of cognitive-science research behind it. StudyRemote’s bet is that the winning study tool isn’t a smarter app, but a simpler way to use a proven one.
